Energy & Climate Action Planning Program

Greenhouse Gas Inventories
AMBAG Energy Watch recognizes that while large metropolitan cities have been working on climate change mitigation projects for years, many of California’s smaller jurisdictions are in much earlier stages of grappling with greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Many of these cities and counties lack the necessary staff and funds to devote to greenhouse gas reduction projects, and as a result, the vast majority of AMBAG’s 21 member jurisdictions had not quantified their baseline GHG emissions as of 2009.

The Central Coast Joint Data Committee (CCJDC) is a regional data sharing collaborative of the 5-county region of the Central Coast of California, from San Mateo through Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey to San Luis Obispo County.

Public and private agencies partner to share spatial data, much of which is used in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the purposes of research, analysis, public review and action.

Electric Vehicle Planning

AMBAG holds a seat on the Steering Committee for the Monterey Bay Electric Vehicle Alliance (MBEVA).

Public Participation Plan

The Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) incorporates public participation into all of its planning processes. The Public Participation Plan provides guidance in the structuring of regional transportation planning processes to ensure that, to the greatest extent possible, interagency consultation and public participation are an integral and continuing part of the regional transportation decision making process.
